Hi!
My name is George Kairis and I live in Athens, Greece. I hold a master's degree in Fine Arts and I have been working as a Unity Developer since 2018.
From 2005 to 2016, I worked as a theatrical set constructor, scenic artist and props manager. I was introduced to theater through the family business, then worked as a contractor and finally held key roles at the National Theater of Greece. My work spanned set construction, scenic painting and sculpting, prop management, fabrication and maintenance. During this time, I collaborated with well-known organizations such as the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, the Onassis FoundationMegaron: The Athens Concert Hall, the SNFCC and Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
In 2016, I decided to pivot and, using my prior college experience with Unity, dove into the engine and began experimenting with game development. A few years later, this decision set me on an incredible journey that ultimately led to a career in software development.
From 2018 to 2022, I worked as a Unity developer at Enneas, where I began working in a junior position, maintaining and updating existing projects, and went on to lead all development of Unity projects. During this period, I also released my first mobile game, Swipe Out, on Google Play. In 2022, I joined Mindojo, contributing to the development of their educational mobile game, Plingo. Since 2023, I have been contracting on Unity projects for clients like Enneas, the Athos Digital Heritage organization, and Soundhood, while also developing Fluid Space, a personal art project, and releasing Flexible Object Reference, an open-source reference management system for Unity.
Over the past years, I have undertaken, developed, and successfully delivered multiple Unity projects, either by myself or by leading a small team, which has proven to be an invaluable experience and a great source of insight.
